  many moons ago, i questioned the legitimacy of the steven unthank case and/or his manner of relating the news on his website.

  official court documents were difficult to locate (at least for some of us, and after a certain date) and my only direct source for information was unthank's own website, though later i heard from a poster who attended one of the hearings.

  i had my hopes up for a major case against the wt, but the little info i could verify left me confused.

  I Hope This Judgement Against The WTB&TS Encourages More Victims To Come Forward

  this may be an encouragement for more victims to come forward, in maybe class actions or individual lawsuits.maybe they will no longer be intimidated by the elders,or put off by the statement "wait on jehovah" or silenced by the ridiculous" two witness rule" and frankly parents of these victims need to take a very hard look at themselves for failing their children.. justice can be acheived now,take advantage of it,the lawyers who won this case should be sought after for future cases,they obviously did a marvelous job.. smiddy.

  It might, but I don't think anyone still "in" will budge, if they're anything like my sister they're all too scared.

  Plus most never come forward because they feel they lack sufficient evidence and don't want to relive the nightmare for nothing.

  It may be, but they'll just claim it's to contact their "supporting" attorneys to find out how to legally proceed.

  However we all know it has nothing to do with the law and everything to do with liability, damage control and covering their ass.

  You can just about bet these conversations mention nothing of the victim’s safety or well being and consist of questions like, who knows, were there witnesses, is there evidence, can this be stifled, how faithful/obedient to the borg are they, how likely are they to follow your orders, how much of a problem will they be and do they have anything on us?

  Great job Cedars.

  I was thinking I might try to anonymously print and send this to my sister; she was the victim of sexual abuse by the hands of a man in the congregation we grew up in, there were many victims and the sexual offender, or in my words pervert, was protected each and every time whilst his victims were silenced and threatened. She is still trying to believe but struggles with her feelings toward what happened to her, how it was handled and her faith in the $ociety, hopefully this will help wake her up.

  the plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.

  the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.

  the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.

  i was about 8-10 years old and twice i had people tell me that i should not pioneer but to go to bethel because i "was governing body material".. one was a co and another a do.. i didn't even believe in god, never have so that makes it weird!.

  what wierd things were told?.

  A couple I once knew said that their house had been demonized by a bean pot they bought a garage sale. (Hmm I didn't know deemunz liked beans)

  Another lady said she though her newly built home had been demonized by stuff she bought at Goodwill because a light fixture came undone from the ceiling, so she threw out (sparlocked) everything she'd ever bough from goodwill. (Oh yes it must have been deemunz and not the shitty workmanship of the on the cheap contractors she hired.)
